Lacey Harris, LMSW
Therapist
Pronouns: She / Her
I use empathy, life experiences, professional training and sometimes a sense of humor to work with you toward your goals. During difficult times, I am not afraid to sit with grief and unpack trauma. My therapeutic hope is to give you an encouraging space to process, learn to cope and rebuild again after significant life events.
I have a Bachelor of Social Work from Michigan State (2005) and a Master of Social degree from Wayne State University (2009). My real experience comes from over 10 years of social work experience having the privilege of working with families (birth, foster, relative, and adoptive families) who have been impacted by the foster care system. I also have over 10 years’ clinical experience working with infants, young children, youth and families who have experienced trauma.
I am passionate about supporting moms during pregnancy and into parenthood. I offer a safe space to process motherhood, pregnancy, infertility and infant loss. As a mom I know that being a parent can be beautiful, but it can also be very overwhelming. I'm here as a mom and a therapist to sit with the beautiful moments and address feelings of grief, loss, anxiety, and depression
I am passionate about working with children, youth and adults impacted by the child welfare system. I am able to hold the complexities of intergenerational histories of trauma and adversity.
Specialty areas- children, family therapy, child welfare/foster care, perinatal and maternal mental health, infant mental health, childhood abuse/neglect, interpersonal violence, grief/loss and trauma.
Therapy styles- outpatient, in office therapy sessions and walk and talk therapy.
I offer walk and talk therapy starting from the IYK office and walking to the American Commerce Center Nature Preserve . Walk and talk is an innovative approach that integrates the benefits of physical exercise and nature with traditional psychotherapy. I encourage clients to bring their dog for walk and talk therapy to enhance the therapeutic experience.
Outside my love for being a therapist, I enjoy having adventures with my kids, walking my dog, connecting with other parents, organizing around issues of social justice, reading, kickboxing, and spending time with friends.
