Restorative Justice Circle Keeping

Restorative Justice is a practice that promotes peace keeping, healing, accountability and repairing harm at individual, community and systemic levels. It is based on ancient African and other Indigenous community building models. Restorative justice is rooted in the belief that crime/harm is a violation of people and relationships, not just laws. It emphasizes repairing the harm caused by wrongdoing through collaborative processes that involve all stakeholders. This approach not only addresses the immediate needs of those affected but also fosters long-term community healing and resilience. Some restorative practices include: community group conferencing, family group conferencing, community accountability circles, harmed-harmdoer dialogues, peacemaking circles, restorative circles, circles of accountability and support, etc.
